Located in Shenyang, a city in the northeast of China with 7 million population, ERA's first project in China is a mixed-use investment. The project consists of six islands connected through large squares and wide interior streets, and an office block, in accordance with the dense population and urbanisation in China. A spatial plan dominated by contrasts has been developed by reflecting the dualities like the industrial atmosphere of Shenyang and Chinese gardens together. The gaps between independent islands, the spaciousness of the high ceilings and streets with strong perspectives were utilised together.
For a controlled air-conditioning against the compelling climatic conditions all islands were connected through a steel structured glass envelope, which gives an integrative outlook to the structure. The 328,000 sqm-structure's façade involves horizontal lines making the project more inviting with a human-scale.
