We were expected to design an office building for the land between Büyükdere, an area with dense high-rise development, and Akatlar, a housing area with low-density. Adopting an approach of transition between these two typologies of the location, we have developed a form that reflects both the density of Büyükdere and the continuity of social life in Akatlar. With a simple and plain plan, the structure was designed as a single rectangular block that, has a small base area. To integrate the street life of Akatlar to the building, we have proposed dynamic characteristics by adding vertical circulation elements and masses stressing common areas to the plain building mass. An office building that easily joins the urban space and involves the urban rhythm and functions without isolating itself has been designed.
With locating main service areas to the south side of the building and putting photovoltaic panels as from the 8th floor, energy requirement of the service units was provided in natural ways. Preventing over-concretion of the underground, we have proposed a parking space with an automatic parking system for 4 floors beginning from the second storey. We have developed a mixed structural system, which includes both steel and reinforced concrete, due to the location and specific conditions of the land.
